Can someone Catholic explain this to me? Is this a monk with the Baby Jesus? If so, I’m not entirely sure monks were around when Jesus was born. If not, why is the monk holding a baby? Is this his child? Is he the Patron Saint of Illegitimate Children? Or is the monk holding a very small person? I was raised Jewish. I don’t get these things.

It looks like St. Francis of Assisi, but he was the Patron Saint of nature and animals…I don’t know. I will try to find out though!

I think it might be St Christopher.

This is St. Anthony.  You can learn more about why he holds the Baby Jesus here http://www.americancatholic.org/Messenger/Jun2000/Anthony.asp.
He is a good saint to know for several reasons.  If you ever loose something say a prayer to him and you will find it!  And if you ever want to sell a house buy a small St. Anthony statue and bury it in your front yard and your house will sell.
Saints are no joke!
