This doesn’t answer the point of your post, but I had a guy friend in law school who swore that there was one song that could always get the ladies out on the dance floor: Madonna’s Like a Prayer.
I argued with him that I didn’t know a single girl who counted that among her favorite songs, but I will be damned if, the very next time we went to the Linebacker, he had the DJ put it on and BAM! All of the girls were out on the dance floor, kicking up their heels.
I was just thinking of two random events at college, the second of which has relevance to the overall post:
1. my friend telling me, with faux-seriousness, that “if you turn on Wham’s Careless Whisper, there’s no way that girl won’t jump you and make out immediately”
